Meet Our Doctors
Get to know Dr. Jacobs
Dr. Jacobs graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University with a B.S. in biology and psychology. Following his undergraduate work, he completed his dental degree at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry. He has been in private practice in Grand Island since 1987.
Outside of the office
I like music and play the saxophone in the Hamilton County Band in the summer. I also play the piano and organ.
I help with the general operation of the family farm near Phillips. The farm was first owned by his great-grandfather in 1876. Today, corn and soybeans are raised.
In the summer, I like to go to a lake near South Bend, Nebraska, for swimming and boating.
Why did you want to become a dentist?
I grew up on a farm near Aurora. I am a first-generation dentist. I always enjoyed going to the dentist as a child. I had regular cleanings and even a few fillings with dentists who really cared about me. Looking back, I appreciate that my mom knew it was important to get routine care for our family. I like problem-solving and science, so I chose dentistry when I discovered that I had a talent with my hands for intricate-detailed work, plus guidance from parents and mentors that made a great impact on my life.
Get to know Dr. Rush
Dr. Cody Rush joined Jacobs Dental Group in August of 2021. He graduated from Grand Island Northwest in 2012. He then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he was a track athlete. He had a successful career, winning a Big Ten Championship in 2014. He received Academic All-Big Ten honors 3 years in a row and was also selected 4 years in a row for the All-America First Team. He was also a 3-time recipient of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Award. He is now an assistant track coach at Grand Island Northwest.
Cody and his wife, Emily, have been married since college and have two children. He is excited to be back in Grand Island to serve and give back to the community that has supported him throughout the years.

Earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from UNMC College of Dentistry
Certified in Invisalign and minimal sedation
Serves on the Central District Health Department board
Vice President of the Central Nebraska Health Board
Outside of the office
I like to spend time with my two young, very active children.
I enjoy hunting, fishing, and playing golf.
I help coach the Grand Island Northwest track team during the spring. I am also an avid Husker sports fan.
Where did you study dentistry?
Dr. Jacobs and Dr. Rush earned their dental degrees from the College of Dentistry at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Lincoln. The four-year program offered our doctors a strong foundation in both the clinical and academic aspects of dentistry. Weβre proud to provide care to the Grand Island community, and it all started with the incredible training received at this esteemed institution.
