What is cosmetic dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry is any dental treatment that improves how your teeth look: their color, shape, size, spacing, or alignment. Some of it is purely about appearance, like whitening. Some of it, like bonding a chipped edge or replacing a missing tooth with a bridge, improves function at the same time.
What can cosmetic dentistry fix?
Stained teeth, a chipped edge, a gap, a crooked tooth: each has a treatment here, and whitening and bonding take weeks rather than months.
Sometimes small enhancements make the biggest difference. Minor reshaping or stain removal can change a smile without a full makeover.
Yellow or stained teeth from coffee, tea, wine, or age
A single crooked tooth or a small gap
Crowding or spacing across several teeth
Chips, cracks, and uneven edges
A missing tooth, or several
Minor shape and length differences between front teeth
Cosmetic dentistry options at Jacobs Dental Group
Take-home teeth whitening
Custom trays and professional-grade gel you use at home, with most patients noticing a difference in about 1 to 2 weeks. Results last several months to a few years with occasional touch-ups. See teeth whitening.
Clear aligners: Clear Force and Clear Express
Clear Force uses 5 or more removable, nearly invisible trays for moderate to complex alignment needs, including crowding and spacing. Clear Express uses 1 to 5 trays to move a single tooth or close a small gap, and we recommend both systems for patients ages 10 to 90. See clear aligners.
Tooth bonding
Tooth-colored resin shaped and hardened on the tooth to repair a chip, close a gap, or even out an edge, often in a single visit. See bonding.
How much does cosmetic dentistry cost?
The cost depends on the treatment, how many teeth it covers, and whether a restorative step like a crown or filling comes first. A single bonded tooth and a full set of Clear Force aligners sit at opposite ends of that range.
Most dental insurance plans don’t cover cosmetic treatments. For restorative and general care, we accept most insurance plans and will help you understand your coverage. For the cosmetic portion, CareCredit financing lets you break the cost into monthly payments.
You’ll get an estimate at your consultation before anything goes on the schedule. Call or text (308) 382-6660 to book.
What to expect at a cosmetic consultation
1. A conversation
Your first visit is simple. Tell Dr. Jacobs or Dr. Rush what you’d like to change, and they’ll tell you what’s possible and what each option involves.
2. An exam
Cosmetic work lasts longer on healthy teeth. We check for decay, gum issues, and wear before recommending whitening, aligners, or bonding.
3. A plan and an estimate
You leave with a plan, the number of visits involved, and an estimate, before anything goes on the schedule.
Small fix or full makeover?
One change
A chipped front tooth, a stubborn stain, or one tooth out of line usually takes one treatment: bonding, whitening, or Clear Express. Bonding often takes 1 visit, and whitening shows results in about 1 to 2 weeks.
A combination
Straighten first with Clear Force, then whiten, then bond any edges that still bother you. You can stop after any step.
Replacing teeth
A bridge or denture restores missing teeth. If you’d rather have a fixed replacement that doesn’t rely on neighboring teeth, ask about dental implants.
Why Grand Island patients choose Jacobs Dental Group for cosmetic care
- Dr. Rush holds Invisalign certification, and the office offers two clear aligner systems so a single crooked tooth gets 1 to 5 trays instead of a full case
- Dr. Jacobs has shaped and restored teeth in Grand Island since 1987, so your “small touch-up” gets a very experienced set of hands
- Whitening, aligners, bonding, bridges, and dentures all happen in one office, with your regular cleanings in the same chair
- Dr. Jacobs served as a clinical instructor at the UNMC College of Dentistry, where both dentists earned their DDS

Cosmetic dentistry FAQs
What cosmetic dental services does Jacobs Dental Group offer?
Our Grand Island office offers take-home teeth whitening, Clear Force and Clear Express clear aligners, tooth bonding, dental bridges, and dentures, all at 2916 West Stolley Park Road.
Does dental insurance cover cosmetic dentistry?
Most dental insurance plans don’t cover cosmetic treatments, but we offer CareCredit financing so you can break the cost into manageable monthly payments. For restorative and general dental care, we accept most insurance plans and will help you understand your coverage. Call (308) 382-6660 to explore your options.
How do I find out which cosmetic treatment is right for me?
Start with a conversation. At your first visit, we’ll talk about what you’d like to change, what’s possible, and how we can help, from a small touch-up to a complete transformation. Request an appointment online or call or text (308) 382-6660.
How long does take-home whitening take to work?
Most of our patients notice a significant improvement in about 1 to 2 weeks of consistent use. With good oral hygiene and occasional touch-ups, results last several months to a few years.
What's the difference between Clear Force and Clear Express?
Clear Force uses 5 or more trays to move more than one tooth and handles moderate to complex alignment needs, including crowding and spacing. Clear Express uses 1 to 5 trays for a simple movement of a single tooth. Your dentist will recommend one after an exam.
Does Jacobs Dental Group offer veneers?
No. Our cosmetic services are take-home whitening, clear aligners, bonding, bridges, and dentures. For chips, small gaps, and uneven edges, bonding often gives a similar result in a single visit.
Will whitening work on my crowns or fillings?
Whitening gel doesn’t change the color of fillings, crowns, or bonding. If you’re planning restorative work on front teeth, whiten first so we can match the new restoration to your brighter shade.
Does cosmetic dentistry hurt?
Whitening can cause temporary sensitivity, and we use a gel formulated to be gentle on enamel. Bonding usually needs little or no numbing. Aligners cause mild pressure for a day or two after each new tray.
Who is a candidate for clear aligners?
We recommend clear aligner treatment for patients ages 10 to 90. An exam confirms whether Clear Force or Clear Express fits your teeth, and your dentist will give you a treatment timeframe.
How many visits will I need?
Bonding often takes 1 visit. Take-home whitening starts with an evaluation and custom trays, then you whiten at home on your own schedule. Clear aligners run a few months to a couple of years, with check-ins along the way.
